Sailing area: Normandy

Normandy is a region in north-west France on the English Channel. It is divided into two regions: Basse-Normandie which brings together the departments of Calvados, Manche and Orne, and Haute-Normandie which brings together the departments of Eure and Seine Maritime. It is an extremely peaceful region which offers a large variety of landscapes with the sea, magnificent cliffs and countryside. It is an excellent destination for a relaxing cruise with its luxuriant natural environment and seaside resorts.
Among the best well-known: Deauville, Dieppe, Étretat, Fécamp and Honfleur. Normandy also has forests, orchards and pastures where you will enjoy walking.

Sailing in the Channel from Cherbourg

Sailing in the Channel is reserved for experienced sailors. It is an area with strong tides and powerful currents. Coolsailing offers you the chance to depart from Cherbourg for the Channel Islands, where you will discover wild mooring places and the secrets of the islands of Guernsey and Jersey.

Places to visit

Before embarking, take time to visit Cherbourg: Tour the Cité de la Mer, an entertaining scientific park devoted to underwater exploration, then continue to the Thomas-Henry Museum, the Museum of the Liberation and the Emmanuel-Liais Museum of Natural History. Finally, round off your day at Point du Jour, a major French art centre devoted to photography. Now, set your sights on Guernsey!
Guernsey is an incredible mixture of breathtaking landscapes and a modern way of life. It is the perfect destination for a one or two-day stopover. You will be able to enjoy walks along the cliff paths, admire the rural landscapes, relax on the superb beaches, or visit Victor Hugo's legendary Hauteville House from where you can enjoy a view over the neighbouring islands. The capital of the island, Saint Peter Port, is a dynamic town with many cafés, restaurants and shops which do their very best to attract visitors to the port. The island's charm is very unique with a lively community that welcomes visitors with open arms.
Then, sail down to Herm for a relaxing stopover far from the stresses and strains of daily life. Take a day to recharge your batteries in this preserved area of dunes, beaches and coves. Once you have rested, continue your visit with Sark, an incredible island with a steep relief that offers magnificent views. The fact that there are no cars there also adds a unique charm. You will be able to enjoy some hiking and take advantage of the high cliffs to contemplate the night sky and the stars in an utterly peaceful setting.
Then continue to Jersey. On this small island that has great character discover the charming country paths and superb viewpoints form the top of the cliffs. On the programme in Jersey: Long walks, sea kayaking, water-skiing and wakeboarding. We recommend that you visit Plemont Bay, a magnificent bay with attractive views and St Brelade's Bay Beach, a stunning fine sand beach. Also, do not miss Elizabeth Castle and Mont Orgueil Castle, as well as the many bunkers from the Second World War. The most interesting mooring places are in Saint Catherine to the far north, Gorey and Saint Aubin.
